Storage Rack for Muddy Shoes

Shoe storage units are often rare in homes who wouldn’t admit that they have footwear clutter problem. Those who have admitted to needing help, require so much more of these storage units in almost every part of the home.

Usually positioned in bedroom closets or hallways, shoe storage is available in different forms. This includes shoe racks, benches, shoes trees, over door, under bed and so much more. But as useful as all these may be, it would be a real waste to use them as storage for muddy and dirty shoes. Instead of buying a new shoe storage unit, why not just make one from recycling materials?

To make a shoe rack for your muddy shoes, you’ll need several used buckets. Stick to paint buckets though, since they are much easier to clean compared to those which contained roofing cement.

Cut off the rim if the buckets using a jig saw. Once cut, sand off the rough edges to prepare for the design installation. The buckets will be position into a pyramid so take some measurements as soon as you’ve found the angle that’s right. Take scrap plywood and make it into framework for the buckets to keep them secure. Sand, prime and paint the wood parts to prepare them for attachment.

Next, you’ll need to screw the buckets together. Using bulldog clips while doing this part is extremely useful as they hold the bucket firmly in place. As soon as these are done, screw the buckets into the plywood.

Now, you have the appropriate storage unit especially for muddy shoes!
